Trailing by two entering the fourth quarter, Avon used a four-goal run to turn a 7-5 deficit into a 9-7 advantage in a contest played Saturday, March 30. New Canaan would not go quietly, however, getting to within one at 9-8 with time winding down. Last week, the boy’s high school season featured some great games, highlighted by a few upsets on Saturday. La Salle (PA) took down Garden City (NY) on the road, 7-4. Boy’s High School Weekend Recap: April 1

It was a loaded weekend in boy’s lacrosse action, with two big upsets of note on Saturday. No. 6 La Salle College High School (PA) traveled to No. 4 Garden City (NY) and took down the Trojans by a final score of 7-4. It was a great defensive game in which the Explorers used two quick goals by Maryland-bound Senior Matt Rambo at the start of the second half to take a 4-2 lead and never looked back. The win snapped a 24-game winning streak for Garden City. ...

Game Observations: La Salle (PA) 7, Garden City (NY) 4

The La Salle Explorers notched a huge road victory on Saturday over Garden City. Garden City had won 24 consecutive games, their last loss coming in the 2011 New York State Championship Game. They entered the game with a 2-0 record this season, including a big win over Loyola-Blakefield (MD) at M&T Bank Stadium. La Salle entered the game 1-0, with an impressive win over DeMatha (MD) by a 9-6 score. The game was a defensive battle, with La Salle breaking a 2-2 tie at halftime with two quick markers to begin the third quarter en route to the win. ...
