This high school season, we will be bringing you a feature each Tuesday where we provide some notable news and notes for the week ahead. Here is the feature for April 2.
Last week, the boys high school season featured some great games, highlighted by a few upsets on Saturday. La Salle (PA) took down Garden City (NY) on the road, 7-4. Meanwhile, Brunswick (CT) defeated Deerfield (MA), 9-7.
This week features another great slate of action.
Game of the Week: Gilman (MD) at La Salle (PA) (Friday, 4/5).
La Salle (2-0) enters the week with plenty of momentum, having wins over DeMatha (MD) and Garden City (NY) already on their resume. Meanwhile, Gilman (3-1) enters the week a bit differently, coming off of their first loss of the season to Hereford (MD) last week. Both teams have trap games ahead of this one, though, and should be on upset alert Tuesday: Gilman pays a visit to Landon (MD), while La Salle is on the road at Episcopal Academy (PA).
Team to Watch: Gonzaga (D.C.)
The Purple Eagles enter the week at 7-2 their only blemishes being respectable losses against Boys Latin (MD) and the Hill Academy (Ont., Canada). Big tests loom and should help paint a clearer picture of the squad. First on Tuesday, McDonogh (MD) comes to town, followed by a visit from Georgetown Prep (D.C.) in a Washington, D.C. battle on Friday.
Stat of the Week: An interesting tidbit from the Delbarton (NJ) at St. Anthonys (NY) matchup (Saturday, 4/6):
Since 2005, St. Anthonys is 6-2 against Delbarton, including five consecutive wins dating back to 2008. In every win for the Friars in that span, they have scored at least eight goals. In both losses during that time, they scored four (2006) and seven (2007), respectively.
Can the Green Wave hold the Friars to under eight on Saturday? Recent history suggests a positive outcome should they be able to do so.
Noteworthy Games: There are plenty of excellent games this week. Here are five that stand out in addition to those listed above.

4/3 Smithtown East (NY) at Ward Melville (NY)
4/5 Boys Latin (MD) at Conestoga (PA)
4/6 Garden City (NY) vs. Duxbury (MA) at Harvard Stadium
