After a dominating victory over Cherry Creek (CO) last Saturday – a 15-4 decision for the Quakers that moved them to 4-0 – head coach Deanna Knobloch was kind enough to join us. Coach Knobloch hit on a variety of topics, including her team’s play, their defensive principles and how the program – which has won 13 consecutive State Titles – has maintained such an extraordinary level of success. Garden City (NY) scored the final two goals of the second overtime session to earn a gripping 12-11 win over host Darien (CT) in girl’s high school action Saturday. Trailing 10-4 early in the second half, Garden City mounted a huge comeback to tie the game at 10 and send it to overtime, where they got the game-winner with just under eight seconds remaining. Coach Shriver hit on a variety of topics, including his team’s play against excellent out-of-conference competition, their preparation for the MIAA slate and the mindset of his senior class as they look toward playoff time. The Lakers won their first MIAA game yesterday over McDonogh (MD), 15-10 to move to 10-0 on the season.
