Game Observations: Ward Melville (NY) 13, Smithtown West (NY) 4
The Ward Melville Patriots (NY) notched a huge 13-4 victory over visiting Smithtown West (NY) on Monday afternoon. The game was a rematch of the Suffolk County Class A Semi-Finals last season, which was also won by the Patriots avenging an earlier regular season loss to the Bulls. Ward Melville extended its undefeated start in 2013 to 7-0. Meanwhile, Smithtown West suffered its first setback of the season and fell to 7-1. After the teams traded goals at the beginning of the first quarter, Ward Melville went on a big run to end the first half with a commanding 7-1 lead en route to the victory. ...

The Week Ahead: Girls High School Lacrosse
Last week girls high school action was highlighted by a huge matchup in Washington D.C., where St. Stephens/St. Agnes (VA) visited Georgetown Visitation (D.C.) Wednesday and took home a huge win, defeating the Tigers 14-9. The Saints also took down Holy Cross (MD) and Christian Brothers (NY) for a perfect 3-0 week. Meanwhile on Long Island, two powers collided on Thursday as Garden City (NY) took down Manhasset (NY), 10-9 in overtime. It was a good week for the Trojans, who also took down Massapequa (NY) on the heels of their big comeback win over Darien (CT) in double overtime. This week features some great matchups. ...
