Moorestown-CCLast week girl’s high school action was highlighted by a huge matchup in Washington D.C., where St. Stephen’s/St. Agnes (VA) visited Georgetown Visitation (D.C.) Wednesday and took home a huge win, defeating the Tigers 14-9. The Saints also took down Holy Cross (MD) and Christian Brothers (NY) for a perfect 3-0 week.

Meanwhile on Long Island, two powers collided on Thursday as Garden City (NY) took down Manhasset (NY), 10-9 in overtime. It was a good week for the Trojans, who also took down Massapequa (NY) on the heels of their big comeback win over Darien (CT) in double overtime.

This week features some great matchups.

Game of the Week: Manhasset (NY) at Summit (NJ) (Saturday, 4/20)
A big interstate battle on Saturday as Manhasset travels to Summit. Both teams enter the week with one loss. Summit fell to Mountain Lakes (NJ) 10-9 in OT, while Manhasset fell to Garden City (NY) by an identical 10-9 OT score. This should be an excellent matchup of New York and New Jersey squads.

Team to Watch: Radnor (PA)
The Red Raiders enter the week with a 6-1 record – their lone setback to power Georgetown Visitation by a 9-8 score. Two big games are on the slate for this week, which should be telling. First, they travel to Conestoga (PA) on Tuesday before taking on Haverford (PA) on Thursday.

Stat of the Week: An interesting note on Garden City (NY)
In their past three games, Garden City has beaten three formidable foes. First, they took down Darien (CT) 12-11, in two overtimes, in comeback fashion on the road. They then took down Massapequa before beating Manhasset by a 10-9 score – again in overtime. In that three game span which included three overtime periods, the Trojans have scored 35 goals.

Noteworthy Games: There are plenty of excellent games this week. Here are five that stand out.

4/16 Radnor (PA) at Conestoga (PA)
4/18 Ward Melville (NY) at West Islip (NY)
4/18 Chatham (NJ) at Mendham (NJ)
4/19 St. Anthony’s (NY) at St. John the Baptist (NY)
4/20 Manhasset (NY) at Summit (NJ)
