#6 PICLast week, the boy’s high school season featured some great rivalry games, highlighted by Ward Melville’s (NY) big win over Smithtown West (NY) yesterday in a big Suffolk County Class A matchup and Darien (CT) taking down Wilton (CT) in an FCIAC battle on Thursday night.

This week features another great set of games.

Game of the Week: Mountain Lakes (NJ) at Delbarton (NJ) (Saturday, 4/20).
Another great slate of games this week; another tough call for our Game of the Week. But this one should be excellent as old rivals renew their series once more in New Jersey. While both teams failed to live up to their own lofty standards last season, 2013 has been a different story. Delbarton has impressed in the early going, with big wins over St. Anthony’s (NY) and Chatham (NJ) fueling their 6-0 record. Mountain Lakes also comes in undefeated at 4-0, holding their opponents to just 3.8 goals per game.

Team to Watch: Malvern Prep (PA)
The Friars have had an excellent season to this point, entering the week at 7-0, with wins over Loyola-Blakefield (MD) and Penn Charter (PA) among their victories. This week, two big tests loom. First on Tuesday, they travel to Episcopal Academy (PA), who enters the week at 7-3. They then take on the Haverford School (PA) on Friday, who themselves sport a 7-3 record. Two huge games in Pennsylvania this week, as the Friars look to take down teams that bested them last season to continue their impressive 2013 campaign.

Stat of the Week: An interesting tidbit from the Boys’ Latin (MD) at Gilman (MD) matchup (Friday, 4/19):
The Lakers (11-0) travel to face the Greyhounds (7-1) on Friday in a pivotal MIAA matchup. These teams have faced each other three times in the past two seasons. Each game has been a Gilman victory – including a come-from-behind OT victory in the 2011 MIAA playoffs. Each of the past three games has been decided by one goal, and two have gone to overtime. Three games decided by three goals: It can get no closer than that.

Can the Boys’ Latin senior class reverse the trend of one-goal losses, or will Gilman keep the three-game winning streak alive?

Noteworthy Games: There are plenty of excellent games this week. Here are five that stand out in addition to those listed above.

4/16 Loyola-Blakefield (MD) at St. Paul’s (MD)
4/17 Dublin Scioto (OH) at Dublin Jerome (OH)
4/19 Dallas Jesuit (TX) at Episcopal Dallas (TX)
4/20 Deerfield (MA) at Taft School (CT)
4/20 Garden City (NY) at Ward Melville (NY)
