mugDefenseman Jake Sawyer (Denver, Colorado/Denver East High School) has committed to play lacrosse at the Hobart College.

The Statesman, coached by T.W. Johnson, compete in the ECAC.

Sawyer, a team captain at Denver East, brings size and skill to the Geneva, New York campus. A tall and athletic defender, Sawyer has good speed, utilizing a long stride to beat riding players when clearing. He plays very solid positional defense and uses his stick very well to lengthen his reach and keep attackers at bay.

Below is our Q&A with Jake, who discusses his experience using SportsRecruits.com.

Where will you be playing your college lacrosse?
Hobart. I visited last fall and I really enjoyed the campus and the environment. I also enjoyed the academic opportunities offered there because I feel that it suits the type of student that I am. As far as lacrosse, I really like Coach T.W. Johnson. I also am fond of the facilities there and the legacy that comes with being a Hobart Statesman.

How was your SportsRecruits.com experience?
It was a great way to get my name out there. It also made communication with schools much easier. SportsRecruits.com was certainly a good tool in the recruiting process and it was very easy to use.

What was the to your profile and video?
The way my video was put together was fantastic and I think it really portrayed to coaches what kind of player I am.

How do you think SportsRecruits.com gave you an advantage over your peers who tried to do it on their own?
It was a useful tool that helped me gain exposure much faster than a lot of my peers.

Being from a growing lacrosse market, do you think SportsRecruits.com increased your exposure?
I am from Colorado, which is far away from most Division I schools that I was interested in, so it was hard for a while to get the exposure I needed. SportsRecruits helped to get coaches from across the country interested without them having to go out of their way to see me play.

Would you recommend SportsRecruits.com to a friend that wants to play college lacrosse?
Yes, I would recommend it, and yes, it works.
