This high school season, we will be bringing you a feature each Tuesday where we provide some notable news and notes for the week ahead. Here is the feature for March 26.

Last week saw more teams playing their opening games, while some others are well into their schedule. It was a solid weekend for McDonogh (MD), who recorded impressive wins over Bryn Mawr (MD) on Thursday, March 21 and Episcopal Academy (PA) on Saturday, March 23.

Last week was also a big one for St. Stephen’s/St. Agnes (VA), who defeated Notre Dame Prep (MD) on Friday, March 22 before taking down Radnor (PA) on Sunday, March 24. The Saints have scored at least 13 goals in each of their first three games (3-0).

This week features some solid action as even more teams open their schedules.

Game of the Week: Notre Dame Prep (MD) at Bryn Mawr (MD) (Tuesday, 3/26).
A big mid-Atlantic region matchup is set for Tuesday. Notre Dame enters the contest at 2-1, with two wins to begin the season followed by a loss last week to St. Stephen’s/St. Agnes (VA). Bryn Mawr enters the game with a 1-1 record, with a win over Severn (MD) last week before a loss to McDonogh (MD).

Team to Watch: West Genesee (NY)
West Genesee opens their season with a home contest against Skaneateles (NY) on Thursday, March 28. Last season, the Lady Wildcats finished their campaign 20-1, winning the NY State Class A Championship for the first time since 2008.

Stat of the Week: An interesting tidbit, doubling-up on West Genesee (NY):
Since 2006, the Lady Wildcats are an uncanny 147-7 (.955). During that time, they have recorded fewer than 20 wins just once (2010; 18-2).

Noteworthy Games: There are plenty of excellent games this week. Here are five that stand out.

3/26: St. Stephen’s/St. Agnes (VA) at. St. Ignatius Prep (CA)
3/26: Notre Dame Prep (MD) at Bryn Mawr (MD)
3/27: Sachem North (NY) at Northport (NY)
