Relive the Season: Chapter 6 – Smithtown West (NY) at Ward Melville (NY)

This spring, the LR News team traveled to 15 games across the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic Regions, making stops from Conestoga (PA) up to Salisbury (CT) and many in between. Chapter 6 took us to Ward Melville High School (NY) on Monday, April 15 for a big Suffolk County matchup between the Patriots and visiting Smithtown West Bulls (NY). Ward Melville used a stifling defense and consistent, balanced attack to build a 7-1 first-half lead en route to a dominant 13-4 final. Check out the video for some great highlights of the action.

The US Lacrosse Women’s National Tournament was held May 25-26 at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. The event featured some of the best girl’s high school players in the country. In the Seneca Division Championship Game, Long Island Metro 3 defeated Lower New England 3, 11-7. Check out the video for game highlights.

This spring, the LR News team traveled to 15 games across the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic Regions, making stops from Conestoga (PA) up to Salisbury (CT) and many in between. Chapter 5 took us to Wilton High School (CT) on Thursday, April 11 for a great rivalry matchup between the Warriors and visiting FCIAC foe Darien (CT). Darien built a big second-half lead and withstood a furious Wilton rally to earn a 12-10 victory at Wilton’s Tom Fujitani Field. Check out the video for some great highlights of the action.

Featured Five: Baltimore Summer Kickoff Session 1 (2015/2016)

The first session of the Baltimore Summer Kickoff took place from Friday, June 14 to Sunday, June 16 at the St. Paul’s School in Maryland. The teams participating were an impressive, diverse group featuring players from the 2014, 2015 and 2016 classes from all over the country. The event, run by High Point head coach Jon Torpey and his outstanding staff, showcased some excellent talent. Here are five players that stood out among the 2015 & 2016 classes and some others who made an impression. ...

Chapter 4 took us to Moorestown High School (NJ) on Saturday, April 6 for a big interstate girl’s matchup between the Quakers and visiting Colorado power Cherry Creek (CO). After a back-and-forth start, Moorestown was able to go on a big run near the end of the first half en route to the 15-4 victory. Event Recap: Baltimore Summer Kickoff (Session 1)

The first session of the Baltimore Summer Kickoff took place from Friday, June 14 to Sunday, June 16 at the St. Paul’s School in Maryland. Friday’s session featured individual clinics, with Saturday featuring over 60 games on seven different fields. Sunday featured the final team games as Session 1 wound down. The teams participating were an impressive, diverse group featuring players from the 2014, 2015 and 2016 classes from all over the country. The event, run by High Point head coach Jon Torpey and his outstanding staff, showcased some excellent talent over the three-day session. Among the teams that stood out with their play Saturday included the three Top Gun Fighting Clams teams (2016; 2015 RW and 2015 OB – based in New England), the three Green Turtle squads (204, 2015, 2016 – based in Maryland) and the three Cincy Royals clubs (2014, 2015, and 2016 – based in Ohio). Highland Park – a team featuring players from Texas – was also very impressive. ...

Event Recap: Jersey Strong Showcase

The Jersey Strong Showcase, featuring games between 16 of the top teams in the state, was held Wednesday at Madison High School. The participating teams were in attendance by invitation only, which meant there was plenty of good lacrosse being played on a picturesque early summer afternoon and evening. The teams participating in the Jersey Strong Showcase – all from the Garden State – were Chatham, Delbarton, Don Bosco Prep, Glen Ridge, Hunterdon Central, Kinnelon, Madison, Mendham, Moorestown, Morristown, Mountain Lakes, Seton Hall Prep, Sparta, St. Augustine Prep and Summit. With some excellent programs participating on the field, college coaches needed little other incentive to attend. But coupled with the event’s central location and mid-week timing – freeing it from competition – the turnout was incredible. Over 80 college coaches were in attendance from some of the top programs in the country ranging from the DI to the DIII ranks. ...
