Prepping for Success: The Realities of a Post-Graduate Year

If you’re going to do a Post-Graduate year, you need to come in with the full understanding that you will receive texts and phone calls from your friends partying in college while you are stuck in the library studying for an 8AM Economics test,” Coach Peter Newman of the Westminster School told me upon entering his office for the first time. While one may assume that most 18 year-olds would forgo the test in exchange for the party, the number of students choosing a Post-Graduate (PG) year is increasing because of the unique opportunities a Prep School such as Westminster can provide. In addition to having another year to mature, my year at Westminster allowed me to acquire the time management skills necessary to succeed as a student-athlete at the collegiate level. In deciding if I wanted to essentially repeat senior year of High School, there was no first hand guide on what the experience was really like from a student’s perspective. Through this article, I hope to provide a first hand take on why one may choose to do a PG year, what the atmosphere is like when you’re there, and how it helps to form a more efficient college student. ...

Relive the Season: Chapter 14- Greenwich (CT) vs. New Canaan (CT)

This spring, the LR News team traveled to 15 games across the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic Regions, making stops from Conestoga (PA) up to Salisbury (CT) and many in between. Chapter 14 took us to Brien McMahon High School on May 24th for the FCIAC Championship game between Greenwich (CT) and New Canaan (CT). Both teams came out firing and played a very even first half, but the New Canaan Rams (CT) finished the game very strongly and defeated the Greenwich Cardinals (CT) to win the FCIAC Championship 8-5. Check out the video for some great highlights of the action.

Relive the Season: Chapter 13- Haverford (PA) vs. Malvern Prep (PA)

This spring, the LR News team traveled to 15 games across the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic Regions, making stops from Conestoga (PA) up to Salisbury (CT) and many in between. Chapter 13 took us to Cabrini College on May 22nd for the Inter-AC Invitational Championship between the Haverford School (PA) and Malvern Prep (PA). The No. 3 seeded Haverford School Fords (PA) upset the No. 1 seeded Malvern Prep Friars (PA) by a final score of 13-11. These two national powerhouses battled it out in what was one of the most competitive games we saw all spring. Check out the video for some great highlights of the action.
