The Conversation

What are you most excited about with regards to your program?

Now is a great time to be a part of the York Lacrosse program. We have a young and talented team who are all very hungry to take it to the next level. They have built strong relationships with one another and they are eager to take the program to new heights. Getting to the elite 8 in two of the past three seasons has set a new standard for excellence, and our current team members want to exceed that standard.

What jumps out at you when recruiting? What do you look for in a player?

Attitude, overall demeanor, skill level, hustle, work ethic, what kind of teammate are you? How do you treat your parents? How engaged are you?

What are your “pet peeves” when recruiting?

Yawning in the office during a meeting! Do not do this! Also mass or blind copy emails.

What is the best way interested student-athletes should get in touch with you?

Email

What should student-athletes avoid in their messaging to college coaches?

Spelling mistakes, incomplete sentences, incomplete information, or putting the wrong coaches name\school in the email.

How would you describe your coaching style?

To challenge each young woman on a daily basis while at the same time providing a consistent level of mentorship and support. Very high standards and expectations are set academically, athletically, and personally for each member of the team, and our atmosphere is one that provides them with the opportunity to grow and mature along the way.

Walk us through your timeline when recruiting a student athlete?

Sophomore and Junior year we will watch you play at multiple tournaments, events, etc. We will invite you to camps\clinics on our campus as well as visit opportunities for the day to meet the team and get to know the school. Towards the end of your junior year and the summer going into senior year (and after SAT\ACT scores are given to us), we will look to offer roster spots.

What kind of players succeed at your program?

The players that have a true love and passion for the sport and the game, will succeed at York College in our program!

What’s your recruiting strategy going into an event? After an event?

Watch all the kids that sent us a personal email with their interest. After the event, we will compile our notes and email individuals back with our interest\feedback.

Once again, thanks to Jen for her time, and best of luck to York College this season!
