Michael Karpel (Hampton, New Hampshire/Winnacunnet High School) has committed to play lacrosse at Roanoke College.
Roanoke, ranked 7th nationally in the most recent USILA Division III Coaches’ Poll, is 13-3 thus far this season and is riding a 10-game winning streak. The team, coached by Bill Pilat, competes in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference.
The Maroons are hosting the ODAC Championship this weekend, having earned the No. 1 seed in the conference. They will take on No. 5 Randolph-Macon on Saturday in the semi-finals. The winner of that contest will play the winner of the No. 2 Lynchberg vs. No. 3 Washington & Lee on Sunday.
At close defense, Karpel is a big-body that plays a physical style. He displays good feet for his size, and uses good angles when sliding. He also has a good stick, and displays a good ability to get the ball off the ground.
