Applications for next Summer's Super Sophs Boys Lacrosse Showcase are currently being accepted. The 2013 Super Sophs Boys Showcase took place on Saturday, July 27 at Greenwich High School in Greenwich, Connecticut. The one-day event featured over 200 members of the 2015 Class, broken up into 12 teams. Participants hailed from 21 States, 159 high schools, and represented over 120 club teams. We were fortunate to catch up with Justin Walker, the head coach at the Rivers School (MA) and Director of the Top Gun Fighting Clams, one of New England’s premier club lacrosse organizations. Camp Hope – Thoughts on the Summer Lacrosse Circuit with Help From Heavyweights: Part One

It is hard to believe Heavyweights – the Disney classic that tells the story of several portly adolescents and their summer at a fictitious weight loss camp aptly named Camp Hope – came out almost 20 years ago (1995). To put that into perspective – and make those of us who remember the movie vividly feel old – Friends was concluding its first season on NBC; The Usual Suspects, Seven, Braveheart, Clueless, Billy Madison, and Toy Story all made their theatrical debuts (wow 1995 was a solid movie year); Nebraska won its second consecutive National Championship on the gridiron; and Microsoft released Windows ’95 - you know, back when Microsoft releasing things was still a big deal. ...

Looking at the IMLCA White Paper on Declining Championship Weekend Attendance

The Intercollegiate Men’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IMLCA) recently published their White Paper regarding the decline in attendance at NCAA Championship Weekend in recent years. The committee, which consisted of “college administrators, a coach from each division, former NCAA committee members, a corporate leader and an IMLCA corporate partner,” put forth issues it identified as having a negative influence on Championship Weekend attendance, and recommendations on how to improve on the trend. Here, we take a look at their findings and explore their recommendations for improving the decline. ...

Featured Five: Northstar Invitational

The 2013 Northstar Invitational took place from Sunday, July 28 through Wednesday, July 31 at the Northwood School in historic Lake Placid, New York – site of the 1980 Winter Olympic Games and the famed United States victory over the USSR in the “Miracle on Ice.” The invitational featured 160 of the best girls players in the country from the classes of 2015, 2016 and 2017. Northwestern graduate and 2005 National Champion Ashley Gersuk ran the event, which operated seamlessly from start-to-finish. Helping Gersuk were two upstate New York lacrosse icons – perennial MLL All-Star Kevin Leveille and George Leveille, who has been involved in with the game in the area since the 1970s.
