Unofficial & Official Visits: An Overview

During the fall, many college programs will host "Prospect Days," which are great ways to get on campus and play in front of a school's coaching staff. While these days are great, however, they are not necessarily an indication of a school's interest in you. A better gauge of interest is a school inviting you on campus for visit. A big part of deciding where to pursue a college education is visiting a school, meeting the people there and getting a feel for the campus. Similarly, a big part of the recruiting process is taking an "Official" or "Unofficial" visit, where you meet the coaches and potential future teammates. An Interview With: Texas Top 99 Director Jack Sandler

We were fortunate to catch up with Jack Sandler, the Head Coach at Colby College and Director of Texas Top 99, which takes place this weekend at the Greenhill School in Addison, Texas. Entering its 12th year, Texas Top 99 is the premier boys high school recruiting event in Texas, featuring some of the top players in the State. The event is run by an impressive group, which in addition to Coach Sandler includes Notre Dame Assistant Gerry Byrne and Navy Assistant Ryan Wellner. D3 Summer Showcase Registration Open!

The D3 Summer Lacrosse Showcase will make its debut on June 8th, 2014 at the Hackley School in Tarrytown, New York! The event is based on the successful D3 Winter Showcase and feedback received from attendees interested in attending a summer version. The D3 Showcase is focused on giving players the ability to play in front of highly competitive institutions that compete at the Division III level. Players will compete in three 50-minute games and participate in a recruiting talk geared towards the Division III process. Game Recap Video: Darien (CT) 8, Niskayuna (NY) 7

The Darien Blue Wave (CT) notched the game-winning goal with just over five minutes remaining and held on for an exciting 8-7 victory over the visiting Niskayuna Silver Warriors (NY) on Saturday, April 12. Quick Highlights: Deerfield (MA) 10, Brunswick (CT) 9 – F/2OT

Trailing 9-7 with under 40 seconds remaining, the Brunswick Bruins scored two late goals - the last with .8 seconds to go - to tie the Deerfield Big Green and send the game to overtime. Deerfield would get the last laugh, though, as the Big Green would put home the winner with four seconds remaining in double overtime in a thrilling back-and-forth contest.
