Rising College Costs: Invest in Your Future Now!

Among the myriad of financial decisions a family will make, the investment in a college education is one of the most expensive. According to the College Board, the average cost of tuition and fees for the 2014–2015 school year were $31,231 at private colleges, $9,139 for state residents at public colleges and $22,958 for out-of-state residents attending public universities. While that already may sound astronomical, it gets worse: Room & Board will run you an average of $9,804 at state universities and $11,188 for private institutions in addition to the tuition costs. That means on average, a college education will run a family somewhere between $75,772 on the low-end to as much as $169,676 on the higher-end.
