SportsRecruits.com, US Lacrosse’s Official Service Provider for Recruiting, launched Version Two of the company’s successful website last month. The site was rebuilt from scratch, tapping the latest technology to go along with the experience gained from working with over 25,000 players since 2008.

In this week’s Pro Tip of the Day, we look at why you want to keep your Favorite Schools list up to date at all times. Keep reading for more, and check out the video to learn about SportsRecruits.com.

Favorite Schools

A new feature on SportsRecruits.com allows members to group the schools they are currently interested in by adding them to their “Favorites” list.

Once a school is given the “Favorite” designation by a user, all previous interactions with that specific school is organized into one place for them to view. You can see each time that the school looked at your profile and video, and each time you had an email correspondence with that program.

Why It Matters

One of the most important steps in the recruiting process is to make a target list of schools a student-athlete is interested in. This list of roughly 15-20 schools should be made up of those institutions that would be a good fit both academically and athletically. Research the schools absent of lacrosse, and take note of factors like what majors are offered, the general culture of the student body and the climate. It is imperative you go to school and play lacrosse – not go to school to play lacrosse.

The new “Favorites” feature on SportsRecruits.com provides a platform for members to organize their own target list of schools. Having the ability to see interactions like profile views, video views, sent messages and received messages, users can continue to tailor their lists based on real data, and focus their efforts on those schools that will ultimately be the best fit for them.

As a high school freshman, a user may have 25 schools on their “Favorites” list. Over time, that list will inevitably change, but the important thing is you keep your list of favorite schools up to date.

Similarly, as new schools come on a user’s radar, they can simply add that program to their “Favorites” list, and immediately any previous interactions can be seen in one place. No more looking for old emails or wondering if a school has viewed your video or profile – now that information is readily available and in one place.

From Co-Founder Matt Wheeler:

“We consistently talk about the importance of identifying your target list of schools in order to narrow the scope of our members’ recruiting efforts. With the new Favorites option, our members now have an organized place which houses all correspondences with that school, allowing them to consistently tailor their target schools. It is a truly helpful tool – one of just many SportsRecruits.com offers.”

How SportsRecruits.com Can Help

There are a number of ways SportsRecruits.com can assist its members. Aside from the quick access to college coaches – every DI, DII and DIII coach is a registered user – our staff can look at a member’s profile, transcripts and highlight reel to help guide the player in the recruiting process. Staffers are former collegiate lacrosse players who can help give a member an idea of the 20-30 schools to focus on.

SportsRecruits.com members have had amazing success getting into their target schools. Click here to see a list of some recently committed members.

SportsRecruits.com was started by two former Wesleyan lacrosse players and is staffed by former lacrosse players who played at every level – from Virginia to Monmouth to Wesleyan. Members deal with former college players when issues arise – players who have dealt with many of those same issues themselves.

The Fall is a great time to connect with your target list of programs after a crazy Summer. Call 212-414-8417 or email Ryan@SportsRecruits.com if you have questions about how to become a member.
