Stoga-BL StillLast week, the boy’s high school season featured some great games, highlighted by a few statement wins by visiting teams.

On Friday, Boys’ Latin (MD) took down Conestoga (PA), 18-3. On Saturday, Delbarton (NJ) defeated St. Anthony’s (NY), 7-3.

This week features another great slate of action, and is highlighted by conference rivals facing off.

Game of the Week: St. Anthony’s (NY) at Chaminade (NY) – Wednesday, 4/10.
A very tough call, with plenty of great games down in Maryland as the MIAA opens its conference slate this week. But St. Anthony’s-Chaminade is always a special game in the CHSAA. Chaminade enters the contest riding high at 4-0, with big wins already over Massapequa (NY), West Islip (NY) and Fairfield Prep (CT). St. Anthony’s enters the game at 4-1, suffering their first loss of the season to Delbarton (NJ) last weekend. These two usually play close games, with Chaminade having the recent regular-season edge. Will that trend continue in Mineola on Wednesday?

Team to Watch: McDonogh (MD)
The Eagles enter the week at 6-2 – their two losses coming to the Haverford School (PA) earlier this season and last week’s 7-5 setback against surging Gonzaga (D.C.). As MIAA play kicks off this week, McDonogh will be tested, with two big road games that will help to define their season. First on Tuesday, they travel to 9-0 Boys’ Latin (MD), followed by a trip to Loyola-Blakefield (MD) on Friday. This week should be a telling one for McDonogh.

Stat of the Week: An interesting tidbit from the Massapequa (NY) at Farmingdale (NY) matchup (Thursday, 4/11):
In their past five meetings, Massapequa is 3-2 against Farmingdale, including consecutive wins the past two seasons. In all three of the Chiefs’ wins over that time span, they have scored at least 10 goals. In both losses, they have scored fewer than 10.

This season (entering the week), Massapequa is averaging 12 goals per game. Meanwhile, Farmingdale has held its opponents to 4 goals per game. Will be interesting to see if the 10-goal trend continues when these teams meet on Thursday.

Noteworthy Games: There are plenty of excellent games this week. Here are five that stand out in addition to those listed above.

4/9 St. Paul’s (MD) at Calvert Hall (MD)
4/10 Berkshire (MA) at Avon Old Farms (CT)
4/11 Darien (CT) at Wilton (CT)
4/12 Greenwich (CT) at Lakeland/Panas (NY)
4/12 Salisbury School (CT) at Haverford School (PA)

Content note: We will be covering the Darien at Wilton game on Thursday night. Be sure to check back for video and game observations.
